Squirrel

this squirrel on its belly as I passed by it

And I scared myself finally realizing it was less than a foot away

I shifted over and said I would excuse myself first

It watched me out the corner of its eye (my eye)

And now I realize that there are situations in both apply

Acknowledging the danger or what is perceived

And waiting for it to pass

For the breath to breathe

To feel at ease
